The safety and well-being of our campers are a top priority. At least half of Camp Thrive’s staff members maintain current CPR certification, helping ensure that trained personnel are available throughout the camp day. Kidcam Camps is proudly accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA accreditation reflects a commitment to nationally recognized standards addressing health, safety, staff qualifications and training, program quality, emergency preparedness, and camp operations. The ACA develops its standards in collaboration with experts from organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Red Cross. Accredited camps are evaluated against up to 300 standards designed to support safe, responsible, and high-quality camp practices. For families, Kidcam’s ACA accreditation provides added confidence that its policies and procedures reflect established practices for supporting the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff.
Our maximum enrollment for Summer 2027 is 60 campers. Staffing levels are adjusted based on each child’s individual support needs, and we maintain a consistently high staff‑to‑camper ratio to ensure safety, connection, and meaningful participation for every camper. Each camper group is supported by multiple counselors and buddies/volunteers, creating a team‑based environment where children receive attentive, individualized care throughout the day.

We will continue to evaluate families’ needs and the feasibility of offering extended-care options in the future.

To ensure we understand your child’s support needs and can plan appropriate staffing, families must provide documentation of a qualifying exceptionality or support need. A current Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is preferred; however, documentation from a licensed healthcare provider (such as a pediatrician, psychologist, neurologist, developmental specialist, or therapist) may also be accepted. This information helps our team create a safe, supportive, and individualized camp experience for your child.
Camp Thrive welcomes collaboration with outside support professionals who already work with your child. Behavior support personnel, occupational therapists, speech‑language pathologists, physical therapists, and nurses may attend camp to provide individualized assistance as needed. All outside support providers must submit documentation including their license, background check, liability insurance and an active CPR certification. While we are happy to partner with these providers, Camp Thrive does not supply or assign outside support personnel. Families are responsible for arranging and coordinating any one‑to‑one or specialized support their child requires during camp hours.
Campers bring a familiar, nourishing lunch from home each day. Camp Thrive provides afternoon snacks while considering each camper’s documented dietary needs and restrictions.Through playful, no-pressure food exploration, campers may be encouraged to look at, smell, touch, or taste unfamiliar foods at their own comfort level. Participation is always supported without forcing a camper to eat or taste a food.Foods offered during these activities are selected to be free from gluten, dairy, grains, artificial dyes, and added sugars whenever possible. Families should provide complete information about all food allergies, dietary restrictions, and feeding-related concerns on their camper’s medical form.
Camp Thrive will not take off-site field trips or transport campers away from the camp property.Instead, we may invite special guests, performers, or community partners to provide engaging on-site experiences. These opportunities will be carefully selected based on campers’ interests, strengths, support needs, and overall safety.

Enrollment at Camp Thrive is not strictly first‑come, first‑served. Because we aim to build balanced groups and meet a wide range of support needs, several factors are considered during the enrollment process. We give preference to campers who have previously attended, though returning campers are not guaranteed a spot. We consider: financial need, Number of weeks requested, lottery‑based sponsorship selections, overall group composition and support needsWe do maintain a waitlist each season. If registered campers are unable to attend or if additional spots become available, families on the waitlist will be contacted in order of best fit for remaining openings. Our goal is to create safe, well‑supported groups where every camper can thrive.
